Confidence. Probably the single most important factor in achieving anything great. Without the belief that you can succeed, you have no reason to try. Everyone is capable of some level of greatness. The key is training your body and mind to be capable of bringing to life the vision you will develop in your mind.

Meditation

Learn to develop mindfulness, and focus on your breathing. Mindfulness helps you become aware of your present situation and utilizing the right breathing techniques can help you focus on a task that helps control your heart rate and nerves.

When the stakes are high meditation is your friend. It keeps you focused in the moment and prevents distractions from entering your consciousness. All great athlete’s have this ability. Whether it is the ability to hit that 3-point shot, sink a critical putt, or hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth to win the championship.

Mentoring

Find a mentor. Someone who has more experience and wisdom, who can relate to your personality. While providing meaningful advice that will enable you to grow.

You don’t need these people in your life everyday. Sometimes a conversation once a month about your progress is all you will need to have an effective relationship. A great mentor will be real with you about your downfalls, but provide feedback in a way that is constructive to you achieving your ultimate goal, not deterring you from it.

Visualization

Learn to see yourself succeeding in everything you want to achieve. Close your eyes and walk yourself through the process. It is much easier to replicate something you have in mind, than to walk aimlessly through the dark and produce results.

If you can see it in your mind, you’ll eventually be able to achieve it physically, once you have put in the time and effort.

Hard Work & Commitment

In the end everything comes down to hard work. Are you willing to put the time in to develop a strong mental fortress? Are you willing to put in the work willing to become physically capable of the things you want to achieve? The key is to find something that you are passionate about and work relentlessly towards those goals. As you travel down the path, you may find something else that is even more inspiring and you will have the confidence to take the necessary actions to fulfill those dreams as well.
